About Us

Founder & CEO

It is an honor to welcome you to Laurel Crowned Women! I am Lhorraine S. London Polite, the Founder and CEO of LCW.

My educational background includes an Associate of Science in Accounting/Finance, a Bachelors of Arts in Communication/Public Relations and Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in Project Management. I also received my PMP (Project Management Professional certificate).

From a young age I started to cultivate my passion for building a bridge of resources for women. In high school I started leading my first support group. I gathered with a group of teenage girls who were to become naturalized citizens and wanted to navigate the educational system. Then in college, I participated at The Good Neighbor Center and supervised providing free tax services for the community. This center also supported women, no matter the education level, who needed basics for themselves and their children. I also volunteered for Friendship Home who empowered women to start a new life after domestic abuse.

In addition, I have worked in diverse fields which have broadened my skill set. I led community service projects on-campus and off-campus to support the different stages of life. This was the catapult to my deep passion.

I became impassioned to connect women in different stages of life. As a ministerial wife for 11 years, I hosted a group called, What Would You Tell Her. This brought together women over 40 with women in their 20’s to mentor and bridge the gap. I hosted seminars on obtaining the right tools to navigate relationships and facilitated sessions on self care and identity.

In addition to my ministerial spouse role, I  became the Graduate School Director at Andrews University and worked in several capacities that encouraged the development of healthy student life and community connections. Through all of this, I saw the underlying effects that mental, emotional, and physical deficits have on the ability to fight for quality of life.

Having this diverse background has opened up doors for me to interact with people in meaningful and unique ways. I have experience with finances in the hospital setting, branding and marketing, project management at the university level, motivational speaking, creating youth and young adult programs and entrepreneurship. Most of all, I have seen the needs of women in different stages of life, and the silence cries for help.

I am committed to growth, both personal and communal. LCW reflects this commitment through providing opportunities for professional women to invest in their overall wellbeing and the stability of the community of women. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to provide support, resources, and community to professional women ages 22 and up, who are facing life’s transitions of independence, marriage, careers, children and divorce, and women who are seeking to invest in their personal well-being.

LCW offers these growth opportunities in significant ways such as

  • In-person events

  • Virtual series/content

  • Annual events

  • Support groups

  • Coaching organizations on how to serve their female stakeholders

We are consistently seeking innovative opportunities to connect with and empower women. Stay connected through our calendar, email list and social media to see what new occasions we offer.
